The platform currently supports execution through MT5 brokers , which generally handle Forex, Metals, Indices, and Crypto CFDs — but not multi-leg options or complex derivatives.
Index options and equity options will require enhanced risk-management modules and exchange connectivity, which are planned for a later release.
Does Charts Connect support spreads or complex option strategies?
No. Spread trading, option chains, or multi-leg strategies (Iron Condor, Butterfly, Debit Spreads, etc.) are not currently supported.
Can I trade both long and short?
Yes — trading both Buy (Long) and Sell (Short) positions is supported through TradingView alerts or EA-based logic.
What happens if a signal is received when the market is closed?
The signal will be ignored or queued for logging only , depending on broker settings. T he platform will not execute trades outside market hours to prevent rejected orders. Use TradingView session filters for safety.
Why was my order rejected by my broker?
There are several common reasons why a broker may reject an order. Here are the most frequent causes and how to resolve them:
- Market is closed - Trades cannot be executed outside active market hours. Try again when the market is open.
- The symbol is disabled in MetaTrader - Some instruments are hidden by default. Open the Symbols window using Ctrl + U , locate the asset, and enable it.
- Insufficient margin - You may not have enough balance or leverage to open the position. Try reducing your lot size or adding more funds.
- Trade size is either too small or too large - Brokers define minimum and maximum volume limits. Adjust your trade size to fall within those limits.
- Trading is not allowed on this instrument - Certain symbols may be restricted for trading or only available for view-only mode. Check with your broker for eligibility.
- Your account is in read-only mode - This happens when trading permissions are disabled or login credentials are incorrect. Ensure live trading is enabled and you are logged in with full access credentials.
- Wrong symbol naming format - Brokers often append suffixes such as
.i,.r,.m,.pro, etc. Use the correct symbol format or configure Symbol Mapping in the platform.
Why is my fill price different than my signal price?
Price differences occur because TradingView is a chart price , while MetaTrader uses tradable bid/ask execution pricing .
Slippage may result from:
- Spread widening
- Market volatility
- Broker liquidity differences
- Internet/network latency
This is normal in all automated trading systems.
Are TradingView webhooks delayed?
Yes — TradingView alerts may experience delays depending on:
- Network congestion
- Exchange subscription status
- Server load and alert complexity
Most alerts fire within 1–3 seconds , but high-volatility periods may see longer delays.
Are there limits on how many webhook signals I can send?
Yes. TradingView rate-limits alerts if too many are triggered within a short time window.
If exceeded, you may see:
Rejected: Triggered too often
Tip: use Once per bar close alert conditions.
Can I manually exit a position before my strategy exits?
Yes. You can manually close orders in MetaTrader even while automation is running. ChartsConnect will not re-enter unless a new valid signal is received.
Can I update take profit or stop losses after entry?
Yes — you may manually adjust TP/SL directly within MT5. If your strategy sends additional TP/SL instruction signals, they will overwrite manual adjustments.
